2.3.2 Safe to install
For those seeking a more efficient way to monitor glucose levels using a Samsung TizenOS smartwatch, the G-Watch App presents an interesting solution. However, it's important to note that this app is not compatible with Galaxy Watch 4 or 5 users; they should instead utilize the G-Watch Wear App.
The G-Watch App comprises an Android mobile application, known as G-Watch Service, along with a companion watch face designed for Samsung smartwatches. This service aggregates glucose data from various third-party Continuous Glucose Monitoring (CGM) applications and transmits the relevant information to the smartwatch, allowing users to view their glucose levels directly on their wrist.
Currently, the G-Watch App supports an array of CGM applications, including Glimp, xDrip+, DiaBox, Juggluco, Dexcom app, AndroidAPS, Nightscout, and Dexcom Share. The native watch face's appearance and functionality can be adjusted remotely via the G-Watch Service settings, with updates visible as soon as new configurations are transmitted to the device.
The app visually indicates glucose levels through color-coded values and users can personalize the watch hands to reflect their current glucose range. Customization options extend to the colors for each range and can also include displaying glucose ranges on the Ambient watch screen when in Ambient/AOD mode.
Users have the flexibility to modify glucose threshold levels as well as choose units of measurement between mmol/l or mg/dl. Additionally, you can set connection timeouts and glucose sampling timeouts to reflect current status appropriately.
The watch face is highly customizable, allowing users to upload personal images and select colors for various components. Every aspect of the watch face can be individually tailored, including hiding certain elements if desired. Glucose data can also be visualized in a graph format, supporting both dot and trend line displays with fully customizable colors and backgrounds.
Moreover, two sensor areas are available to monitor heart rate or step count, along with displaying notifications from either the watch or phone. The app includes a selection of built-in themes that enable users to change the overall appearance of the watch face effortlessly using a triple-tap on the lower section of the screen.
During initial setup, the G-Watch App requires 1-2 glucose readings (taking up to 10 minutes) before it can display accurate values; hence no glucose data will be shown during this period. After updating to a newer version of the app, users must reapply their watch face settings through the Android G-Watch companion app by selecting ‘Send all values’ in the main settings menu.
